2-year-old escapes home after being put down for bed, gets struck, killed on roadway

ALLEN TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WKRC) – A two-year-old girl was struck and killed by a car after she was put down for bed.

The Michigan State Police (MSP) First District issued a statement on its official X account regarding a traffic crash that resulted in the death of a toddler.

Authorities wrote that troopers responded to a road in Allen Township, Michigan at around 8:20 p.m. for reports of a pedestrian struck. Upon arriving at the scene MSP said troopers found a two-year-old girl lying in the road.

Life-saving measures were taken and the girl was taken to the hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries, MSP wrote.

An investigation revealed that the child was put down for bed by her parents before they began doing work around the house. At some point, the toddler got out of bed and was able to walk out of the house.

Authorities said the two-year-old walked out onto the street and was struck by a car.
